Launching a clean energy operator

Goal

To create an operator that integrates clean energy sources to deliver electricity to the city’s services and population

Project

Barcelona Energia, a clean energy operator, has been launched as a pilot project. The company begins by meeting the electricity needs of the city council and municipal companies, as well as street lighting. From January 2019, the company’s services will also be available to the general public.
Barcelona Energy will distribute the electricity produced by the power plants it now manages, namely the 41 solar power plants installed on municipal buildings, the waste treatment plant in San Adria de Besos, and the biogas plant at the Garraf landfill.
