Street sensor network

CityIQ sensor nodes

Goal

To improve the efficiency of parking, traffic and street lighting in the city

Project

CityIQ plans to install 4,200 sensors manufactured by Current by GE throughout San Diego as part of a massive Internet of Things (IoT) project that will also include new applications to improve parking and traffic, as well as a smart lighting interface that can improve street lighting efficiency by 20 percent.
The data from the new nodes also interacts with smart systems already implemented, including Genetec, which facilitates real-time emergency response, CivicSmart, a smart parking app, and ShotSpotter, a system that captures the time and location of shots fired
