A supranational union is a multinational political union where negotiated power is delegated to an authority by governments of member nation-states. As a new type of political entity, the European Union is the only entity that provides for international popular elections.
There are two main facets to supranationalism: normative supranationalism or the executive dimension and decisional supranationalism or the legislative-judicial dimension.
